Zion

"To come to Zion, it is not enough for you or me to be somewhat less wicked than others. We are to become not only good but holy men and women. Recalling Elder Neal A. Maxwell’s phrase, let us once and for all establish our residence in Zion and give up the summer cottage in Babylon."

I love Elder Christofferson's talk, saying that we can't just be better, we have to be the best. We must constantly be striving to be the holy men and women of God if we are to be a part of Zion.

I love the idea of a Zion- a place where people can come live and together in one purpose and with one desire in life: to serve the Lord and build up his kingdom. Right now, as members of the church, we must scatter ourselves and see to it that we are sharing the gospel and spreading it to God's children.

I love the sacredness of the home. These homes are the most sacred branches of Zion that we create for our children to act as a place of refuge and peace, filled with the Spirit. But to be honest, I can't wait for the day when the Savior comes and rules a united nation like Zion. Or the day when I can create a Zion within my own home. But for now, little glimpses of community and unity in purpose will have to suffice:)

It's genetic

My Dad loves (in no particular order):

1. Music: seriously people, he has been in two music videos and is in
every fan club that is even remotely related to his favorite bands-namely Train, Matchbox Twenty, O.A.R., Pat Monahan, Rob Thomas, Sugarland, Jason Mraz, and the list goes on...

2. Nature: my Dad climbs Half Dome at least once a year every year and is always talking about climbing Shasta which, cross your fingers, we are doing in May.

3. His family: my dad goes to work every day and works countless hours not because he loves his job (depending on the day:), but because he loves his family. He would do anything for us and has always worked hard to create a comfortable life for us.

4. Surprises: my Dad loves surprising people. Trust me, this works to my advantage. Just last week, I got a package in the mail with a Boston Marathon jacket because he knew it would make me happy.

5. Working out: he may have calmed down a little bit now, but my Dad literally goes to the gym EVERY DAY. Every spin teacher knows his name and every person at the front desk knows to save him a spot on "the list".

He is passionate, emotional, dedicated, thoughtful, and undoubtedly the hardest working man I know. This list could go on forever but here's my point...even though I may have come out of my Mom, I am most definitely my father's daughter: interests and qualities alike. This last week I have understood this more than ever and I am so grateful to have someone who gets me like he does. I love you Dad!

My babygirl

You know how you always have someone in your life that you just HAVE to text when something makes you laugh. Or cry. Or squeal. Especially squeal-we are infamous for that. Well, that girl is none other than MC. Let me illustrate why:

We are the same person. Similar interests include: Diet Coke, Desperate Housewives, Whole Wheat Tortellini, Gossip Girl, That's What She Said, Harry Potter, Taylor Swift etc. etc. etc.

Not only that, she lets me crawl into her bed with her when I'm having a bad day, mainly because she get's to be big spoon. She will say and listen to incessant ranting about the same thing throughout the day because we are both obsessive and emotional. Yup, I said it out loud. But hey, at least we have someone to be like that with, right?

We both LOVE chips and salsa and going out. Together. I mean, she is my girlfriend.

Don't judge, this is one of the only pictures I have of us from freshman year because to be honest, we were not the best of friends at first. I remember dropping her off one night and calling my cousin and saying, "What do you mean we have to be best friends?? We do not click at all."

Now here's later on that year. Needless to say, we hit it off. It only took a few months, but hey, the best things in life take time...and I think it would be appropriate to put a shout out here to A-Hett and C-Fo for introducing us. Love you guys:)

And now I am lucky enough to have this girl in my life. She is seriously the most loyal, crazy, and kindest friend anyone could ever ask for.

LOVE YOU BABYGIRL!!!
